I was worried about the new Metal graphics, but dosdude1 apparently does not mention anything that could worsen the experience in an older laptop, indeed one of his screenshots is an older MBP than mine running Mojave, which also has Metal graphics. For example, I've read this thread of a user owning a 5,5 saying that overtime, the laptop started to not boot correctly, but then he says something about RAM having problems since always. I'm very savvy about PCs, laptops and Windows, indeed I repair and optimize them, though I have never worked with Apple, hence the thread.īasically, I wanted to know about those MacBook5,5 owners that have installed Catalina, if they are experiencing a nice fluent system, or if there are any errors happening, some basic apps not working correctly, etc. I could try Catalina, but this is the first time I'm doing anything with an Apple product. Now, I want to patch and install the very latest best macOS it can handle as fluent or better than OS X El Capitan.
I've maxed the MBP out, meaning it has an Intel P7550 2.26GHz, 2x4GB = 8GB 1333Hz RAM, a 240GB SSD and nVIDIA GF 9400M 256MB (takes memory from RAM so it should perform "very fast" compared to the original 2GB 1066Hz RAM installed).
